Core Concepts
MakerSync is built around these fundamental pillars. Understanding how they interact is key to mastering your manufacturing operations.
Products
Items that you sell to customers.
Products are the finished goods you list on your store (Shopify, Etsy) or sell manually. In MakerSync, a product connects your sales data to your production costs.
- Base Product: The main item (e.g., "Scented Candle").
- Variations: Specific versions (e.g., "Lavender", "Vanilla").
- Pricing: Set your selling price to calculate margins against your recipe costs.
Ingredients (Inventory)
Raw materials used to create products.
Ingredients are the raw materials you buy to make your products. Tracking them accurately is key to understanding your true production costs.
- Cost Price: The price you pay per unit (e.g., $10 per kg of wax).
- Stock Level: How much you currently have on hand.
- Supplier Info: Keep track of where you buy your materials.
Stock Levels
Real-time tracking of your materials.
MakerSync automatically deducts stock when you fulfill orders (coming soon) or when you manually log usage.
- Low Stock Alerts: Get notified when materials run low.
- Inventory Value: See the total value of raw materials sitting on your shelf.
Sales & Orders
Imported orders from your connected stores.
When you connect Shopify or Etsy, orders flow directly into MakerSync.
- Revenue: Total sales amount.
- Profit: Revenue minus the production cost of the items sold.
- Trends: Track which products are your best sellers and highest margin earners.
Finished Goods
Pre-made stock ready to sell.
Not everything is made-to-order. Finished Goods track items you've already made and have sitting on the shelf.
- Make to Stock: Produce batches of products ahead of time.
- Inventory Deduction: When an order comes in, MakerSync checks Finished Goods stock first before deducting raw ingredients.
Production Capacity
Understand your manufacturing limits.
(Advanced Feature) Capacity planning helps you understand how many units you can produce in a given timeframe based on labor and equipment.
- Labor Hours: How much time it takes to make a batch.
- Equipment Limits: Bottlenecks in your production line (e.g., only 100 candles per melter match).
